South London neo-soul singer Tertia May today shares “Love On My Own”, the latest single to be previewed from her forthcoming third EP, TM Radio, due out November 12th, 2021 via Twisted Hearts Records. Soulful licks of honeyed trumpets accent May’s full-bodied, smoky vocals on her new pop-leaning ode to self-resilience, listen/watch HERE.

“Love On My Own” sees May once again team up with heady producer & cowriter, Subculture. Together, the pair steer May’s combination of jazz, hip hop and blues influences into intimate, spacious soul-jazz. Yazmin Lacey, Joy Crookes, and Cleo Sol come to mind for comparison. Combined with the impassioned grit of her most recent single, “The Fire”, May’s pivot towards shades of pop on “Love On My Own” brings her expanding creative horizons into sharper view.

Of the single and new video, May shares: “’Love On My Own’ is about being okay when on your own, enjoying your own space and company and learning to love that. Not chasing the stereotypical things like a boyfriend, money, children etc. Just letting life be life and loving your self in the midst of it”.

Directed by Edd Roberts, the music video for “Love On My Own” delivers the sweet & simple (yet often overlooked) reminder to love, nurture and rely on ourselves. May and the (cutest) young child she takes care of throughout the video glide together through the mundanity of the day, waiting for laundry to dry and strolling alongside the river; staying resolved to find joy in every moment.

“Love On My Own” is the second single lifted from the TM Radio EP, coming on the heels of her 2018 debut, Kind of Purple, and its 2019 follow-up, Not from concentrate, the success of which helped to establish Tertia May as one of the London jazz and neo soul scenes’ most promising rising stars. With multiple appearances at Boiler Room, a COLORS performance with 2 million views, sold-out headline shows at Omeara and Camden’s legendary Jazz Café, recent praise and support from the likes of Ones To WatchAtwood, Notion, The Line of Best Fit, Complex, Clash, Jamz Supernova, and more, May is poised to introduce a new phase of her life and creative evolution on the forthcoming TM Radio, tackling spiritual journeying and adulthood in all of its see-sawing ups and downs.
