Introducing FBi Radio’s DANCE CLASS supported by MoVement: a unique training and mentorship program for female dance music lovers

September 7 2015

Sydney’s beloved community station, FBi Radio has always championed young, female talent, both behind the mic and behind the decks. Some of Australia’s most respected DJs, including Anna Lunoe (Beats 1 Radio) and Nina Las Vegas (triple j’s Mix Up Exclusives), got their start at the station.

Passionate about seeing more women take charge in the dance music scene, FBi has put together a comprehensive DJ skills and training program to give a head start to the next generation. FBi’s Dance Class supported by MoVement will discover, train and mentor a new crop of talent.

TRAINING & MENTORS

Running through October and November, five trainees will participate in workshops covering basic DJ skills, radio presenting, how to navigate the industry and more.

Trainees will be paired with an FBi mentor and join them on air for a month. Mentors will include Andy Garvey, Adi Toohey, Kali (Picnic) and more. Trainees will then be set up with their debut live gig, putting their new skills into practice.

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

No previous skills are required to apply. FBi’s Dance Class is looking for people with impeccable taste in new dance music and a thirst to become a killer DJ. Applicants will be assessed purely on their passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of electronic music.

For information on how to apply, head to fbiradio.com/danceclass . Applications close September 27.

LAUNCH PARTY

To celebrate the launch of FBi’s Dance Class, there will be a party at the station on Thursday October 22 as part of MoVement Sydney. Perth producer Catlips will perform live alongside FBi DJs, plus an actual dance class with Amrita of Hollaback! It’s free and all ages.

More details on how to RSVP will be announced soon.
