Says Haviah on “Smoke” directed by Jon Riera and produced by VR specialists, Combo Bravo, “‘Smoke’ manifested from living the underdog experience. As a female in hip-hop, and as a black female in Canada, it often feels like I’m fighting the stereotypes and the history that precedes me. I’m fighting the ignorance and fighting the negativity to be recognized as an equal and to be given a fair chance in all facets. This song is to empower those in moments of needing to remind ourselves of our greatness. In this age, where we talk about ‘drama’ as smoke, I approach it from the opposing angle – let’s avoid that, let’s just live, and be.”

Swaying from swagger rap to Caribbean bounce with a Missy Elliot-like cadence, 13th Floor tackles marginalization and racism head-on as Haviah proclaims self-love as a black woman. Says Pitchfork, “The album’s title refers to both the superstitious tradition of buildings without a 13th floor and the 13th Amendment, forming a framework for Mighty’s impassioned commentary on cultural and socio-political identity.”

Tapped by XXL as a 2019 Toronto Rapper You Should Know. Haviah was also named one of CBC’s “New Faces of Canadian Hip Hop” and has garnered praise from The Fader, Complex, Pitchfork, Billboard, and more

Haviah is also known for bringing an explosive live show, filled with in-your-face intensity, and fast, technical flows, earning her opening slots for legendary acts like Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Redman and Method Man, and more.
