DWY today shares new single “Latchkey” via WILDER, the singles label from Future Classic and Tom Windish. DWY writes introspective R&B-leaning tracks backed by subtly hypnotic beats and catchy, addictive hooks.”Latchkey” is about a lonely kid who’s fallen into the wrong crowd, forced to make decisions too young while his mom is at work, he’s slipping up and looking at his future. Listen/Watch HERE.
Born in the US and London-raised, DWY has only released a handful of singles, garnering early praise from Complex, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Ones To Watch, among others. A songwriter first, as well as a singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, DWY’s music is incredibly personal and packed with emotion. He beautifully illustrates broken moments, the power of nostalgia, or in this case, a young black man navigating his next steps while his mother’s advice rings in the back of his mind, “But your mama says, be careful of the shooter…when you Black they want your future.”
Inspired by everyone from Frank Ocean to Kanye West or The Fugees, DWY is starting to carve out his own lane, assembling airy anthems out of organic instrumentation and throwback production, all distilled with overpowering emotion.
DWY’s “Latchkey” is out now, buy/stream it here.
Wilder is a singles label launched in the fall of 2019 by Tom Windish (founder of the Windish Agency, now part of Paradigm) and Future Classic (behind Flume, G Flip, SOPHIE, among others). Both known for spotting talent early, Wilder aims to combine resources to become a trusted new platform in artist discovery as well as a pipeline for emerging artists.
