Today, Los Angeles-based singer dijon. is back to share a new single. ‘Wild‘ is a gentle, angelic jam that sees dijon. crooning about the overwhelm of infatuation. Listen below.
The track follows ‘Skin‘ as the latest offering from the dijon., whose collaborative ‘Montana’ EP with longtime musical partner Abhi last year was met with critical acclaim and earned praise from fellow artists like BROCKHAMPTON and Khalid.
The new single serves as dijon.’s latest poetic feat, proving once again that he can match his rich voice and melodies with delicate and deliberate storytelling. His youthful energy and genre-bending sensibility will be on full display as he works on his first solo project, due out later this year.
Listen to ‘Wild’ above, and stay tuned for more from dijon. coming soon.
More about dijon.:
dijon. writes poems that need no music, and melodies that need no words. One line into his records, and we know who he is and where he comes from. He draws as much from folk as he does from a more recent legacy of R&B, and the amalgam feels paradigm shifting. dijon. brings the streets of his Baltimore childhood into conversation over fingerpicked verses that leave us wondering what decade he’s from, and then he reminds us of his youth through his sheer undeniable excitement.
dijon. left Baltimore a couple years ago and drove across the country to Los Angeles. He arrived with nothing, and got a job serving food at a cafe in Glendale. He worked 9 to 5, and then would race to the studio to go record from 5-9. He released an EP early in 2017 called Montana, with Abhi, his collaborative partner for the greater half of a decade. The release was met with critical support and even more so, interest from the artist community which opened up his relationship with everyone from Khalid to Brockhampton. dijon. is on the precipice, one small nudge away from the transition of a tastemaker darling into a household name.
Since, dijon. has been writing and recording, working incessantly, and obsessively on first solo project that seems to have all of Los Angeles wondering whispering about whats next.
