Of the track, Port notes, "All my favourite records have a strong feeling of spontaneity. A lot of my tracks are formed around "mistakes" that I left in which stops me from over producing the tracks. The sampled vocals in 'Heavens' pulls the whole track along. I just cut up the vocals first and created the rest of the track around them".
Both ‘Bump’ and ‘Heavens’ are featured on Port’s upcoming debut Vetement EP, out this July 15 via Pieater.

LOVE FOR BUMP
"Talk about making an entrance...There are so many little things going on in ‘Bump’, that it’s hard to pinpoint WHY it’s so damn infectious…”
Adam Not Eve
"Port’s debut single “Bump” is a progressive, one-of-a-kind slice of jarring garage dance, melding sparse percussion, distorted vocal samples and hollow, dried-out beats."
“A hyperactive mash of scratched vocal samples and jumpy industrial percussion, the song is a real journey."
Dom Alessio, Home & Hosed (triple j)
" A masterful brainteaser.."
"It’s a captivating listen from start to finish, with nods to UK garage melded with Port’s own unique percussion leanings...we are in for one hell of a release on July 15 when Vetement drops!"
Howls and Echoes
"‘Bump’ hits the mark as a refreshingly unique take on UK garage, using a range of samples and percussive loops to tease and gradually build things into a full-blown frenzy. Oddly cinematic and wholly engaging; there’s plenty more where this came from."
I Oh You
"Sporting melodies composed from complex, layered sampling, Christopher Port's debut single Bump may not be easy listening for everyone, but it's pretty darn clever on a production level."
"This entire track is weird, which is good because it means that Christopher Port‘s EP will be something completely original to listen to. ‘Bump’ is gripping in a way that only few tracks can be because the entire time you listen to it it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen next."
'Best new music released by Australian artists'
"The track sheds light on Port's incredible skills as a beatmaker and producer, and indicates super promising things from "Vetement," which features appearances from Airling and Simon Lam."
"...a certified dancefloor slayer...Port dabbles with UK garage minimal techno and straight up dance to craft an incredibly clean – though not sterile – electro gem."
